Palace in Motion is an animated artwork which is projection-mapped onto the exterior of the spectacular Qasr Al Watan (Palace of the Nation) in Abu Dhabi.
My brief from 59 Productions was to make the building come alive using classic projection mapping techniques, where you match the buildings materials in 3D so it appears that it is moving. For the climax, the palace needed to take off like a falcon so I rigged the 3D geometry using bone tools in 3DS Max and added a simple wing beating motion.
